Nolan-Sponsored Reauthorization of Career and Technical Education Funding Passes House

Sep 13, 2016
Press Release

U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan today applauded the passage of the bipartisan Strengthening Career and Technical Education (CTE) for the 21st Century Act, legislation that he championed as an original sponsor. The legislation reauthorizes and reforms the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act, helping more Americans enter the workforce with the skills they need to compete for high-skilled, in-demand jobs.

Addressing his colleagues, Nolan stated: “This bill is about more jobs, more opportunities to learn, and more dynamic growth for an economy in need of the most skilled workers America can provide.”

Nolan continued:

“Time and again, when I visit with the owners and managers of manufacturing facilities in my northern Minnesota district, I’m told two things. The first is that the employees they’ve hired who have participated in CTE programs are among the very best they have. The second point is that they need more CTE-trained people. This bill adds important new provisions to expand and update CTE so jobs can be filled.”
