Nolan Applauds Tariffs on Additional Steel Dumping Nations

Jul 25, 2016
Press Release

U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan today applauded final determinations for tariffs (taxes) on low-grade, foreign government subsidized cold-rolled steel from several additional foreign nations announced this week by Department of Commerce. The U.S. International Trade Commission is expected to finalize them in September.

Nolan previously testified at the ITC in favor of high tariffs (taxes) on cold-rolled steel from Japan and China.  Following the ITC’s final determination last month, official anti-dumping and countervailing duty orders have now been implemented with Chinese steel facing an antidumping rate of 265.79% and a countervailing rate of 256.55%.

“Iron mining, steel and manufacturing are the foundations of our national security and our economic security,” Nolan said. “I am pleased that these final determinations have been made and I urge the ITC to finalize them and make these tariffs and taxes permanent.”

The determination implemented antidumping rates of up to: 31.66% for Brazil, 6.7% for India, 34.33% for South Korea, 13.36% for Russia, and 25.56% for the UK.

The determination implemented countervailing/subsidy rates of up to: 11.31% for Brazil, 10% for India, 58.36% for South Korea, and 6.95% for Russia.
